“Don’t you ever get lonely?” she asked it, staring into its blue eyes, waiting in the silence as if it would respond, and she sighed laying her back on the cold sand, her short hair making a cocoon around her clear face. There she waited for the sea to respond, her eyes closing slightly, drifting away with the sounds of soft crashing waves, Chelsea Mortez waited all night for the sea to answer her, even in her dreams.
Welcome To Atlantis

I’m perfectly lonely
I’m perfectly lonely
‘Cause I don’t belong to anyone
Nobody belongs to me
It’s the way that I want it

Perfectly Lonely - John Mayer

Tristan asked if he could sit beside her, she nodded. He offered her a cigarette, she stared at it. When he lit it and offered it again, she took it, but she did not smoke it. When he asked her how she was doing, she said nothing.

“They weren’t kidding.” He laughed.

“What?” Finally.

“They weren’t kidding, when they said you don’t talk much.” He had asked about her. “I thought I’d try anyway.”

She just smiled, and he smiled back because he didn’t know what else to do. She brought the cigarette to her lips, and she smoked it.
